WHAT IS CORDC?

It was a large humane project of Gemany Terre des Hommes and Vietnam ministry of Labour- Invalid-Social Affairs; was started building in 1979 with the purpose of establishing a rehabilitation center for the whole paralyzed children in south of Vietnam. And was finished building on 8 th November , 1983.

In the last 20 years, thousands of paralyzed children have been treated well and many of them can incorporate their community.

Thanks to the help of many humane organizations , local and foreign institutions, the center still maintains the free treatment regime which is especially important for families who live in rural areas. Most of them are very poor, but they have to follow long term treatments due to the nature of the disease.

Besides, the center is a place for consulting about forming and organizing rehabilitation units; training orthopedic technicians, ad- physical therapists and social-medical officers. And it is also an ideal place for the practices of medical students of HCM city Medical University.

Especially, the center does many own professional researchs; has many inventions in administration, patients care and making prosthetics.

As a result, the center has been awarded the third classed Labour medal in 1991, the second classed Labour medal in 1998 and recently, the first classed Labour medal in 2003 by the ministry of Labour- Invalids- Social affairs and Vietnam president.
